Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. As a child she attended the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. Emma was inspired to become an actor when she was six. Over the course of several years she was enrolled in the Oxford branch Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. In the school, she was taught singing as well as dancing, and also acting. By the age of ten she had appeared and played the lead in various Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. Casting began in 1999 to cast Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by Emma's Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman told Emma along with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe that they had all been through eight straight auditions. Emma's first screen appearance took place with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's premiere in the year 2001. It broke all records on the opening weekend and revenues, and was the highest-grossing film of 2001. Reviewers were awed by the film and its performance. The Daily Telegraph in Britain that is distributed widely, called her performance commendable. Emma was awarded five nominations for her outstanding performance. Later, she won the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actress of an Film.
